My Sydney Detour – History of Holden

April 4, 2016 by MySydneyDetour

Holden is the only car built for Australians, by Australians. It symbolizes a nation in love for the outdoors and getting off the beaten track. It is as much part of our Australian culture as Vegemite or the Aussie meat pie.

The EH model of Holden has become an iconic model as it has been crowned ‘Australia’s most popular car’. Born in the mid 1960’s, at a time where you would slip into the back seat of an EH at suburban drive-ins.

The EH Holden gave Australians the freedom to explore our breathtaking countryside and for many it was the car they learnt to drive in. There are now only a handfull left commodore condition and your tour vehicle undergwent a meticulous eight year restoration and has now been reborn as Sydney’s most unique tour vehicle.

The Premier range of Holden symbolised the pinnacle of Australian motoring. It represented beauty, style and luxury that signified that ‘you had made it’ and was exclusively driven by movie stars, politicians and even the Prime Minister of Australia.

It is in this vehicle you will gain a deeper understanding of who we are as Australians.

My Sydney Detour respects and acknowledges the Indigenous custodians of the Sydney area, The Cadigal Clan.
