Is it worth driving from Sydney to Melbourne?

If you’re planning a trip to Australia, you might be wondering whether it’s worth driving from Sydney to Melbourne. As someone who has made the journey, I can tell you that it’s definitely worth it. Not only will you get to see some of the most beautiful scenery in Australia, but you’ll also have the opportunity to experience some of the best drives in Sydney.

Before we dive into the specifics of driving from Sydney to Melbourne, let’s talk about some of the best drives in Sydney. One of my personal favorites is the drive from Bondi Beach to Watsons Bay. This drive takes you along the coast and offers stunning views of the ocean and the surrounding cliffs. Another great drive is the Royal National Park Coastal Drive, which takes you through the stunning coastal scenery of the Royal National Park.

Now, let’s talk about the drive from Sydney to Melbourne. The journey is around 900 kilometers and takes approximately 9 hours, depending on traffic and how often you stop.

You’ll be driving along the Hume Highway, which is a well-maintained road that is easy to navigate. Along the way, you’ll pass through some beautiful countryside, including the Southern Highlands and the Murray River region.

One of the highlights of the drive is the opportunity to stop at some of the charming towns along the way. One of my favorites is Albury, which is located on the border between New South Wales and Victoria. The town has a rich history and is home to some beautiful architecture, including the Albury Railway Station and the Albury Court House.

So, is it worth driving from Sydney to Melbourne? Absolutely. The journey is long, but the scenery is breathtaking, and the opportunity to stop at some of the charming towns along the way is not to be missed. Plus, if you’re a fan of road trips, this is one of the best drives in Australia.

If you’re planning on making the journey, be sure to pack plenty of snacks and water, as there aren’t many places to stop along the way. Also, make sure you have a good playlist to keep you entertained during the long drive.
