The Route

The most direct route from Perth to Sydney is via the Great Eastern Highway, which takes you through the Wheatbelt region of Western Australia. From there, you will continue eastwards through the Nullarbor Plain, the world’s largest limestone karst landscape, and cross the border into South Australia. The journey then continues through the Flinders Ranges and the Murray River region before arriving in Sydney.

How Long Does It Take?

If you are planning a road trip from Perth to Sydney without any sightseeing, it will take you a bit under 3-1/2 days. On day one, you will travel from Perth to Madura, Western Australia, covering a distance of 1247 km. On day two, you will travel from Madura to Ceduna, South Australia, covering a distance of 1202 km. On day three, you will travel from Ceduna to Mildura, Victoria, covering a distance of 1189 km. Finally, on day four, you will travel from Mildura to Sydney, covering a distance of 1038 km.

However, we recommend taking at least two weeks to complete this journey, allowing you to stop and explore the many attractions along the way. This will give you plenty of time to enjoy the stunning scenery, wildlife, and cultural experiences that the route has to offer.
