The journey began when the young entrepreneur, Richard Graham, set out on a 13 month solo journey overland through Latin America. Inspired by his experiences, he decided to dedicate himself to becoming the finest tour operator in Sydney.
Drawing from his extensive travelling experience, Richard was aware of how beautiful locations can be spoilt when too many people visit. For this reason Richard decided to operate small tour groups, providing a more personal and exclusive experience.
Back in Sydney, Richard was in search of a vehicle that not only enabled him to provide a first class service but also created a truly authentic experience. With a passion for cars and especially early model Holdens, Richard decided on a model that he always loved and that was also Australia’s most popular car: the 1964 EH Holden Premier. In this vehicle visitors to Sydney would be invited to be a part of Australian culture and become a local for a day.
When designing the Detour, Richard drew on personal experiences of the locations in and around the city that would provide visitors an opportunity to experience the essence of the real Sydney with a Sydneysider who is passionate about the city he lives in.
