As a former resident of the Western Suburbs of Sydney, I can attest to the fact that some areas of the city can be dangerous. While the city is generally safe, like any major metropolitan area, there are certain neighborhoods that require extra caution. In this article, we will explore which suburbs of Sydney are considered dangerous and why.

Crime in Sydney

Sydney is a relatively safe city, with a low crime rate compared to other major cities around the world. However, like any city, there are certain areas that have higher crime rates than others. The most common types of crime in Sydney are theft, assault, and drug-related offenses.

Western Suburbs

Bankstown

The Western Suburbs of Sydney have a reputation for being dangerous, but the reality is that not all suburbs are created equal. While some areas are still considered high-risk, others have improved significantly in recent years.

One suburb that used to be notorious for violence was Bidwill. It’s still not safe to walk around at night, but it has improved significantly in recent years. Other suburbs in the Western Suburbs that are considered high-risk include:

Mount Druitt
Blacktown
Liverpool
Bankstown

These suburbs have higher crime rates than other areas of Sydney, and visitors should exercise caution when traveling through them.

Eastern Suburbs

The Eastern Suburbs of Sydney are generally considered safer than the Western Suburbs, but there are still some areas that require extra caution. Bondi, for example, is a popular tourist destination but has a high rate of theft and assault.

Other suburbs in the Eastern Suburbs that are considered high-risk include:

Kings Cross
Redfern
Surry Hills

These suburbs are known for drug-related offenses and violent crime, and visitors should be vigilant when traveling through them.

Northern Suburbs

Epping

The Northern Suburbs of Sydney are generally considered safe, but there are still some areas that require caution. Chatswood, for example, has a high rate of theft, and visitors should be careful when traveling through the area at night.

Other suburbs in the Northern Suburbs that are considered high-risk include:

Ryde
Epping
Hornsby

These suburbs have higher crime rates than other areas of the Northern Suburbs, and visitors should exercise caution when traveling through them.
