The Big Dipper was designed and built by Charles Paige, an American engineer specializing in roller coasters. When it opened in 1935, it was one of the largest roller coasters in the world and quickly became a popular attraction at Luna Park. The ride consisted of steep drops and sharp turns, offering riders a thrilling experience they wouldn’t forget.

Over the years, the Big Dipper has undergone several renovations and upgrades. In the 1970s, the ride was modified to increase speed and height and renamed the “Big Dipper II.” However, despite these changes, the Big Dipper was showing its age and becoming increasingly difficult and expensive to maintain.
