If you’re planning a trip to the Blue Mountains, you’re in for a treat. This stunning region of New South Wales, Australia, is known for its breathtaking scenery, including vast expanses of eucalyptus forests, towering cliffs, and cascading waterfalls. And one of the most spectacular sights you can witness in the Blue Mountains is the sunrise.

So, where is the best place to see the sunrise in the Blue Mountains? As someone who has visited the region many times, I can tell you that there are several options to choose from. Here are some of the best:

Table of Contents

  • Echo Point Lookout
  • Govetts Leap Lookout
  • Sublime Point Lookout

Echo Point Lookout

Echo Point Lookout is one of the most popular tourist spots in the Blue Mountains, and for good reason. From this vantage point, you can take in panoramic views of the Jamison Valley, including the iconic Three Sisters rock formation. And if you arrive early enough, you’ll be able to witness a stunning sunrise over the valley.

To get to Echo Point Lookout, you can either drive or take a bus. If you’re driving, you can park in the nearby car park and take a short walk to the lookout. Alternatively, you can take a bus from Katoomba, which will drop you off right at the lookout.

Govetts Leap Lookout

Another great spot to see the sunrise in the Blue Mountains is Govetts Leap Lookout. Located in Blackheath, this lookout offers stunning views of the Grose Valley and the Bridal Veil Falls. And because it’s less crowded than Echo Point Lookout, you’ll have a more peaceful and serene experience.

To get to Govetts Leap Lookout, you can drive or take a bus. If you’re driving, there’s a car park at the lookout. If you’re taking a bus, you can catch one from Blackheath station.

Sublime Point Lookout

For a more secluded sunrise experience, head to Sublime Point Lookout. This lookout is located in Leura and offers breathtaking views of the Jamison Valley. It’s a bit of a hike to get to the lookout, but the views are well worth the effort.

To get to Sublime Point Lookout, you’ll need to drive. There’s a car park at the start of the track that leads to the lookout.
